We are continuing our journey of expanding and diversifying our business and we are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team here at Tramore Road, Cork City. The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for supporting the finance department in managing and processing financial transactions, with a particular emphasis on banking operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and execute supplier payments (EFT run & manual payments).
  • Record supplier payments on ERP system.
  • Prepare cash sales reconciliations.
  • Prepare cash lodgements.
  • Process employee expense claims and analysis.
  • Prepare overhead expense analysis.
  • Assist with scanning & filing.
  • Support ongoing financial projects.
  • Other ad-hoc duties, projects and assignments as needed or directed by the Management team.

Requirements :

Education and Experience :

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/IATI part-qualified or desire to pursue exams an advantage.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in an accounts assistant or similar role.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and MS Office, particularly Excel.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in providing financial insights, supporting decision-making processes, and ensuring efficient financial management. This role requires an ambitious candidate with a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this hands-on role will include the following duties :

  • Prepare of monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations and month end close process.
  • Preparation of bi-monthly VAT returns.
  • Banking activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets.
  • Assist with the statutory audit process.
  • Assist with providing insight and analysis into the key year on year movements.
  • Ad hoc reporting and other requirements.


Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of Intact IQ advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to establish a rapport with team and communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy:
Develop the customer / consumer offer for the portfolio. Implementing category plans to maximise sales, profitability, and market share.

Team Collaboration:
Collaborate cross-functionally to drive portfolio success, aligned with achieving organisational objectives.

Market Insight:
Monitor market dynamics, consumer behaviour and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities/risks and inform portfolio decisions and strategies.

Performance:
Utilise data-driven insights to track portfolio performance against targets and drive continuous improvement.

Product Range Management:
Manage product ranges within the portfolio, focusing on innovation and customer relevance to ensure a compelling assortment.

Price Management:
Implement price management strategies to maximise profitability and competitiveness.

Promotions Management:

Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, or related field.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute trading strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with proven experience (3 years) of developing the offer & growing sales within wholesale or retail industries, preferably in the Irish market.
  • Strong procurement experience (including negotiation) with proven experience of optimising cost whilst building and maintaining successful supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends, translate into insight to facilitate informed commercial decisions.
  • Strong communication, engagement & presentation skills.  Ability to engage stakeholders & influence positive outcomes. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and experience with trading platforms and ERP systems.
